The days keep ticking away at a rate of knots and to think we’ll be targeting black marlin in a month’s time is exciting. The crew have been busy accumulating a stock pile of sharky mackerel baits which the black marlin simply love.
With light tackle season well and truly under way the Joe Joe team have been sourcing some very impressive Spanish mackerel on their charters with many consistently ranging between the 10-20kg bracket. As you normally do there has been plenty of sharky mackerel and mack tuna in between the more prized species.
There has been a mix of charters of late including family days snorkelling on the reef, bottom fishing days for reef species and of course light tackle days. There was one charter over 3 days working out of Cape Tribulation for a corporate group. In conjunction with Dragon Lady and The Pirate charters, 15 anglers were treated to some of the finest angling opportunities to be experienced on the Great Barrier Reef. Roughly 40 spanish mackerel and over 100 reef species were caught over the 3 days. Working the pristine waters further north of Port Douglas there were plenty of tales to come out of this excursion.
Looking ahead, September is building up with bookings and has only a couple of extended opportunities vacant, October still has a couple of gaps and November is nearly booked out.
As mentioned the days are flying by, so if you are looking at making a booking in the next few months be sure to give us a call.
